Angels and Demons
Angels and Demons is an explosive international mystery-thriller adapted from
the fiction novel written by American author Dan Brown and published by Pocket
Books in 2000.
The plot kicks off with Robert Langdon, world-renowned Harvard
symbologist being summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a
mysterious symbol scorched into the chest of a murdered physicist. He discovers
evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the
Illuminati, the most powerful underground organization ever to walk the face of
the earth. The Illuminati has re-surfaced to carry out the final phase of its
legendary vendetta against its most hated enemy, the Catholic Church.
Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon follows a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.
Director Ron Howard had to shoot the movie using imitations of the Catholic churches in the
storyline - after the Vatican banned him from all of its holy buildings.
